Village of Strum Clerk-Treasurer
Village of Strum (pop.1037) is looking to fill the clerk/treasurer position. The position is salaried and DOQ. The position reports to the Village president and village trustees. The position requires an Associate Degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field of employment. A background in municipal accounting is preferred. Experience in Workhorse is a definite plus. The job duties will involve working with the Village’s regulated water and sewer utilities, tax collection, deposit and transfer of monies in and out of accounts that perform best for the village. Candidates should have a strong background in budgeting/finance, economic development and redevelopment; grant writing, and village planning. Applicants should have a high level of integrity with open positive communication skills: a team builder in addressing community problems and a commitment to public service. Job Summary:
The Clerk/Treasurer performs a variety of administrative, accounting, and routine and complex financial, and clerical functions in accordance with State Statutes and municipal ordinances. Supervise municipal service staff, direct and maintain financial statements and reports, administer elections and election training as required by State Statutes. Prepare budgets and monitor these throughout the year. Coordinate expenditures and revenue accounts with the department heads. Requirement of the position is to attend all meetings of the Village Board and keep the official records for the proceedings. Custody and maintenance of the Corporate Seal and all papers and records of the Village as required by State Statutes are the responsibility of the position. The person shall attend committee meetings and commission meetings as necessary and perform a variety of administrative duties in the overall operation of the Clerk/Treasurer’ office and the Village of Strum. This position plays a major role in the communication with the general public, Village Board and other operating departments. The person will also gather and interpret and prepare data for studies, reports and other recommendations to the board. The position also administers the oath of office to public officials and employees.
