Professional Development Workshop for Municipal Treasurers
In cooperation with Districts VII and VIII of the Municipal Treasurer’s Association of Wisconsin, Nicolet College is offering a one-day workshop featuring continuing education designed especially for municipal treasurers. Registration fee includes both a continental breakfast and a delicious deconstructed salad bar lunch, catered by Rhinelander Cafe & Pub.

Collecting Sales Tax (Russ Bredeson, Wisconsin Department of Revenue)
The Wisconsin Department of Revenue will present an overview of common taxable sales by governmental entities as well as the types of sales that require you to be registered to collect sales tax.
11:15 am – 12:15 pm
Breakout Sessions- choose one of the following classes:
- Utilizing Excel to Manage & Calculate Sales – Join Jamie Burkart, Nicolet College instructor, to learn more about Excel. Managing your sales tax is essential for all municipalities. After this session, participants will walk away with a working spreadsheet to completely and efficiently track sales tax. Bring your most recent sales tax report and supporting documents. Computers and flash drives will be provided so you can take your work home.
- Transcendent Technologies – Kristy Wurzer, Transcendent Technologies, will be on hand to answer all your questions. Transcendent Technologies is in the process of acquiring and supporting J. Mauel & Associates products. A discussion of how this transition will affect you as a current or future user of their products will be discussed, as well as an overview of tax collection and pet licensing products.

Build your own delectable, mile-high salad. Add a bowl of hearty soup and the Pub’s famous hard rolls for a perfect lunch.

Personal and Professional Effectiveness (Beth Kost, Nicolet College)
This practical session, based on the “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey, will provide you with a condensed version of the framework and tools to improve your personal and professional effectiveness. You’ll connect with your core values, identify key roles at work and at home, set meaningful goals for the future related to each role, and develop strategies for monitoring your progress and staying focused.
